It is a practice of letting go and allowing. A process in which space and time seem to dissolve. Structures emerge abstract and free, engaged in an endless search for truth.

Inspired by the craftsmanship of the old masters and my deep connection to nature, I unite the elements – earth, water, air, and fire – within my creative process. I work with natural materials such as slaked lime, Carrara marble dust, ash, stone powders, and chalks from France, Italy, and Northern Germany, and primarily with historic pigments sourced from all over the world.

The cracks, shifts, and detachments that arise through the layered application of these materials in my mixed-structure works mirror processes found in nature – a vitality emerges that one can almost sense and feel.

After years of focusing almost exclusively on the qualities of pigments, different binders, and the translucency of water, I have long since turned to the element of fire, allowing my works to literally burn. The associated process of letting go is accelerated many times over by the force of fire, igniting a fireworks of transformation.

The fascination lies in the unpredictable – nothing is as it seems, and everything is possible.
